Wall Art DIY

Today is my first DIY post!

It all started from a decoration I saw hanging from a Christmas tree display in one of my favourite local home ware stores. It gave me the inspiration to create my own to hang on my wall at home.
All you need to create these gorgeous wall arts are:
  • Fabric (the amount will depend on the size of the cross stitch frame)
  • Cross stitch wooden frame - available from most craft stores
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Nail (To hang)

All you need to do is grab some pieces of fabric. Any type of fabric can be used. I used a cotton.

and some cross stitch frames. I used wooden frames in three different sizes.

Iron the fabric so that any fold or creases are flat and place the inside of the frame under the fabric and the top of the frame over the top. Secure the frame by tightening the screw.

Trim the excess fabric from around the edge of the frame

and voila some cute as a button art to brighten your walls this Summer. All I need to do now is decide which wall to put them on!!

New Project

I have neglected this for a little while, so I do apologise.

I have been uploading new items into my little shop and was lucky enough to last week find a beautiful faux fur coat. In perfect condition it is a must have to keep warm over the winter months.

I am also venturing into an exciting project that is still in the design stages, however I thought only fair that I give you a sneak peak.

I have been collecting vintage fabrics for quite some time and feel they need a new home so some made to order creations will come into fruition over the coming months in these from these beautiful fabrics.
Think frills, ruffles and pretty whimsy tops and dresses and you will be on the right track.

More to be revealed over the coming weeks!

Fabric Abroad...

I recently went on a holiday to Vietnam and Cambodia and was on the hunt for some 'special' fabrics that I couldn't find back home.

Our first stop was Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) where we stumbled across aisles and aisles of silks, chiffons, suiting and lots of sparkles! I purchased 2 metres of a grey knife pleated chiffon and had planned to head back to purchase some more fabrics however we were busy sightseeing and didn't make it back to the market before it closed.

Our next stop was Hoi An, a beautiful town that I would be more than happy to visit again some day. Every second shop is either a tailor or shoe maker. I was like a kid in a candy store looking through magazines to pick outfits as well as picking beautiful fabrics for anything you can think of. I had a dress, blazer, silk shirt, shorts and pants made. I also had three pairs of shoes made!!

Taking it to the Max

I wasn't sure whether I was fond of the maxi skirt when it made it's way back into the wardrobe favourites for winter. However I was given a pattern with a pretty lady dressed in a gorgeous winter felt hat floral blouse and navy blue maxi skirt and she persuaded me with her whimsical ways to give it a try.

I visited my favourite fabric store in Geelong, Joys Warehouse, to find some fabric to take my skirt from Autumn into Winter and I wasn't disappointed. I found this plum lightweight fabric and knew it would be perfect.

I am in love with my maxi skirt and plan to take it out next weekend matched with either a black 3/4 sleeve top for night or a cute knit for daytime! All I need now is a beautiful winter hat...If anyone has some tips on where to find one let me know!

Pretty Little Petal

This week marks the start of winter...I enjoy rugging up each morning in scarves and gloves and sipping cups of tea to keep warm but I miss spring time filled with beautiful colours, long days and warm weather.

I'm a little obsessed with flowers, I always have a fresh bunch spreading their scent throughout the house and have several dresses and skirts made with floral fabric. Some are bold and bright, while others are soft and delicate.

Some pretty spring time petals.......
